Will County Take Back the Night brings survivors, supporters, activists and community leaders together in a call for the end of violence against women. The Zonta Club of the Joliet Area (ZCJA) has proudly participated in this annual event since its inception.
This year, the Will County TBTN event took place at Crossroads Community Church on Essington Road. Organizations that support those experiencing domestic violence as well as survivors, offered resources prior to the program ,which included a donation from the Joliet Junior Women's Club for a $1000 raised specifically for TBTN, a scholarship award presented to a deserving young woman and a powerful testimony from a local mother who lost her young adult son to domestic violence, reminding us all that domestic violence impacts all genders.
A beautiful ceremony followed, honoring the lives of women and children from Will County lost to domestic violence in the past decade. The event concluded with a compelling march to bring much needed awareness to end domestic violence.
It is a privilege for Zonta to participate in this important community event.
