At the Zonta Club of Joliet Area's April 2024 membership meeting, we were pleased to present scholarships to three very deserving young women. Three $1000 scholarships are awarded annually to female students in Joliet area high schools for college expenses. Each applicant is evaluated based on academics, service and their future career plans. Winners of the local scholarships have the opportunity to be eligible to go on to district scholarships as well.
Scholarships were awarded to:
Inaya Gray, a freshman at Dillard University in New Orleans, who is a second year awardee. Inaya is studying nursing with a goal to be a nurse practitioner.
Toleen Abdelrahim, a senior at Plainfield North High School; she's on a waitlist for a couple of her college choices. Her aim is to attain a PhD in chemical engineering, and work in the pharma industry. Her goal is to help women gain access to medicines they need.
Georgia Sweeney, a senior at Minooka High School. She is undecided as to which school she'll be attending, but her goal is to be a social justice attorney with a focus on helping marginalized communities.
