History & Objectives

The Confederation of Zonta Clubs was organized in New York on November 8, 1919 with nine Charter Clubs. Permanent headquarters were established in Chicago on January 21, 1928. There are now over 1200 clubs in 68 countries throughout the world with nearly 33,000 members.


  • to encourage high ethical standards in business and professions.
  • to improve the legal, health, political, economic and professional status of women.
  • to promote and supervise the organization of Zonta Clubs throughout the world.
  • to increase the service and value of Zonta Clubs to their respective members, their communities, and to the world.
  • to foster the spirit of good fellowship among Zontians and Zonta Clubs.
  • to work for the advancement of understanding, good will and peace throughout the world fellowship of executive women in business and professions, united in the Zonta ideal of service.
